Inspired By…

In March 2020, Unfolding Theatre began working with five schools in Gosforth to deliver No Voice Too Small, part of the Newcastle Cultural Education Partnership (NCEP) Inspired By… programme.

The five schools involved were: Brunton First School, Gosforth Park First School, Grange First School, Regent Farm First School and South Gosforth First School.

No Voice Too Small was designed to:

  • Raise the children and teachers’ confidence in public speaking.

  • Build emotional resilience & awareness of positive impact the children can make in their local community.

  • Develop a curriculum in partnership with the children that inspires them to speak out for their local environment and increase engagement in the arts and cultural opportunities.

  • Raise the children’s confidence, resilience and creativity and ability to express themselves.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the project was reimagined as a programme of online, remote activities and in-person workshops delivered by the Unfolding Theatre team.

The project culminated in January 2022 with the development and presentation of 5 audio stories co-created by Unfolding Theatre and the children.

288 children were directly engaged in the project.

I felt more confident after the session as I accomplished my goal of saying my line. I loved it.
