Join North East Deaf Youth Theatre at Gosforth Civic Theatre – New 2025 Autumn Dates!
We’re delighted to announce new dates for our North East Deaf Youth Theatre sessions at Gosforth Civic Theatre! Mark your calendars for 13th September, 18th October, and 22nd November, and 13th December from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Please note our December session will involve a Go and See trip to a local Christmas show!
Our mission is to empower deaf children and young people (ages 5–12) by nurturing their creativity, boosting confidence, and building lasting friendships in an inclusive and inspiring environment.
In collaboration with Turtléar, a leading deaf arts organisation, we’ll explore the exciting world of theatre-making, including:
🎭 Creative writing
🌟 Storytelling
🎬 Acting
💡 Lighting design
🎨 Backstage skills
Together, we’ll produce original productions to proudly share with friends and family.
Our workshops are led by Unfolding Theatre Creative Associate EJ Raymond, who is profoundly deaf and a BSL user. EJ is an accomplished actor, writer, and founder of Turtléar, with a BA in Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since our launch in Summer 2022, North East Deaf Youth Theatre has grown into a strong community of young creatives and deaf creative professionals. Past participants have explored everything from performance to film-making, presenting, and much more.
Monthly Sessions for 2025
Our sessions, held on the third Saturday of each month, offer a safe and supportive space for deaf children to explore their creativity and connect with peers.
