Opportunities

The following opportunities to work with or collaborate with Unfolding Theatre are available. Make sure you sign up to our mailing list (in the footer of this page) to be the first to hear about new opportunities.

Join Unfolding Theatre’s Board of Trustees

Unfolding Theatre is seeking two people to join its Board of Trustees. We are looking for people who can help us develop Unfolding Theatre’s future plans, deliver the best work we can, build relationships and raise the company's profile.

We are looking for people who are passionate about theatre, community and are excited to be part of Unfolding Theatre’s development.

We want our board to reflect the diversity of the communities and artists we work with. We welcome expressions from everyone, but especially from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, disabled people, young people and people who are LGBTQ+.

We are interested in hearing from people who can help Unfolding Theatre’s work thrive by making more connections across different sectors. This includes:

  • People with experience in either fundraising, festivals and touring, business development, charity governance or HR.

  • People who are part of the communities with whom we co-create theatre. This particularly includes residents of Byker, Cowgate, Sunderland and the North East deaf community.

  • People with experience in… something else entirely! If you’ve got experience or ideas that you think could help Unfolding Theatre grow, let us know.

  • People who might not have been a trustee before. We want to bring in new perspectives. We are also keen to offer people the chance to develop their leadership skills through joining our board. So don’t worry if you’ve never been on a board before, many of our Trustees have never been on Boards before - we can show you the ropes!

How to Apply

Drop us a line to start a conversation. You don’t need to send a formal letter or CV. Just send an email, video or message telling us a bit about yourself, why you’re interested and what skills, experience or perspectives you think you could bring.

We’ll also ask you to fill in an equal opportunity monitoring form. This will be separated from your expression of interest, and is to help us see who we are and aren’t reaching in our trustee call-out.

Expressions of interest should be sent to info@unfoldingtheatre.co.uk by 10am on Monday 23rd February.

Any questions?

If you would like an informal discussion with Artistic Director, Annie Rigby, and a few of Unfolding Theatre’s current trustees, please contact annie@unfoldingtheatre.co.uk. There’s no such thing as a silly question!

We look forward to hearing from you!

I had a blast working with the Unfolding Theatre team. It was such a supportive atmosphere. Thank you for taking a chance on me. The opportunity was something like nothing else I’d ever been given before. It was amazing to work under the careful eye and encouraging hand of Annie and Alex. I learned a lot from the experience.
