“What will you do when you’re in charge?”
Multiverse Arcade is inspired by a question asked to young people at Eton College, “What will you do when you're in charge?” We believe all young people should be asked this question.
51 young people from Young Writers’ City at Excelsior Academy and Queen's Hall Youth Theatre collaborated with Unfolding Theatre to make Multiverse Arcade. Since it was created in 2018, 1000s of young people have added their voices to the arcade. We hope Multiverse Arcade gets young people thinking about the changes they want to see in the world.
Place your hands into the arcade machine. A video message from 2066 plays on to your palms. “Sorry. We ruined the world.”
Add your voice. The future is in your hands.
To date, Multiverse Arcade has toured to Newcastle’s Mining Institute as part of Great Exhibition of the North, Dawdon Youth and Community Centre, Greenfield Arts at Greenfield Community College, Mackie’s Corner with Sunderland Culture, Cowgate Community Centre.
The development of the digital tools in Multiverse Arcade were supported by Creative FUSE North East. Thank you to the brilliant academics who have helped us. Alistair Brown, Kate Craddock, Kate Lampitt Adey, Gretchen Larsen, Simon McKeown, Sam Murray, Sharon Paterson and Peter Phillips.
Explore a space full of young people's thoughts on how to change the world.

A Street Like This is a new production from Unfolding Theatre about the unexpected friendships that arise when something unforeseen happens, changing the way people define themselves forever.
Set – and created - in Sunderland, A Street Like This explores what unifies people in a city, where division exists, and what keeps people apart. What change could happen in a city like Sunderland that reminds us we’ve got more in common than divides us?

Celebrating Age aims to promote a positive image of ageing; challenging outdated negative preconceptions, and actively engage older people in their local communities. Together we answer and explore the question; “what would an age-friendly world look like to you”?
